A Dreamy Flower Newborn Setup Inspired by Anne Geddes

Several years ago, a client came to me with a special request — she wanted a portrait of her baby inspired by the iconic Anne Geddes style. I’ve always admired Anne Geddes’ imaginative and whimsical newborn photography, so I was immediately inspired to bring her vision to life in my own way.

To create the look, I started with a large white flower from Hobby Lobby and completely reimagined it. Using multiple flowers, I carefully cut and hot glued the petals together until it was just the right size for a tiny newborn to safely and comfortably rest inside. The result was pure magic — soft, elegant, and timeless.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that this setup would become my most requested newborn photography look. Parents instantly fell in love with the delicate, organic beauty of the flower design. It’s now a signature part of my studio collection, and it’s been used in countless sessions since.

Because it became so popular, I even created a blue version just for baby boys! I love how each variation brings a unique touch while maintaining that same dreamy, fine-art style my clients adore.

Designing custom newborn photography props and specialty setups like this one is one of my favorite parts of what I do. Every baby is unique, and I believe their first portraits should be too. My studio in Downtown Frederick, Maryland, is filled with thoughtfully designed sets, soft textures, and hand-selected props to make each session as beautiful as it is meaningful.

If you’re looking for a Maryland newborn photographer who loves to create one-of-a-kind portraits and custom setups, I’d love to help bring your vision to life. Whether you dream of a floral-inspired scene or something completely original, together we’ll create something truly special.
