The best time to book your newborn session is during your second or early third trimester to ensure availability. I only photograph a limited number of newborns each month so that every family receives a relaxed, personalized experience.
Your session will typically take place when your baby is 7–14 days old, when newborns are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet poses.
What if my baby has already arrived?
Don’t worry — I always try my best to accommodate last-minute newborn sessions if my schedule allows. If your baby has already been born, please reach out and I will do everything I can to fit you in.
Newborn sessions require a $200 session fee to reserve your date. Portrait collections begin at $790.
Every session includes access to my carefully curated collection of wraps, outfits, and props, as well as parent and sibling portraits if desired.
I’m always happy to explain the options during your consultation so you can choose what works best for your family.
Where does the newborn session take place?
All newborn sessions take place in my cozy downtown Frederick photography studio, designed specifically for newborn comfort and safety. The studio is warm, quiet, and fully equipped with everything needed for your baby’s session.
No preparation is needed on your part. I provide a carefully curated collection of wraps, outfits, headbands, and props so we can create a beautifully styled session for your baby.
I’ll also send you a preparation guide before your session so you know exactly what to expect.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Absolutely. Many families choose to include parent and sibling portraits during the newborn session. These images are often some of the most meaningful photographs from the entire experience.
What if my baby is fussy or won’t sleep?
Newborn sessions are completely baby-led and designed to move at your baby’s pace. We allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddles so your baby stays comfortable and relaxed.

How long does a newborn session take?
Newborn sessions typically last 2–3 hours. This allows time for feeding, soothing, and gently posing your baby without ever rushing.
Neutral, soft colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby. After booking, I will help guide you with simple wardrobe suggestions so everything looks timeless and cohesive.
What happens after the session?
After your session, we’ll schedule a viewing and ordering appointment where you will see your finished portraits and choose the artwork you would like for your home.
Many families choose heirloom albums, framed prints, or wall art to enjoy every day.
Yes, I also offer maternity photography in Frederick, MD. Many of my newborn clients choose to schedule their maternity session during pregnancy so we can beautifully document this entire season—from anticipation to your baby’s first days.
Maternity sessions are typically photographed between 28–34 weeks and are fully guided, with access to my studio wardrobe and styling. If you’re interested in both, I recommend reserving your maternity and newborn sessions at the same time to ensure availability.
